RULES
TERMS
AND CONDITIONS:
1.
GENERAL
The SPT Sports Junior Golf Series shall be conducted strictly according
to these rules and IGU guidelines.
2.
ELEGIBILITY
The tournament is open only to Junior amateur golfers who have not reached
their 18th birthday on the last day of the event. For the proof of age
only Birth Certificate issue by municipal authorities or by recognized
School or ID card issued by IGU/SPT Sports.
3.
FORMAT
Competition will be conducted based on the following age groups and handicap
limit:
Category Age Group
‘Hogan’ 15 – 17 years
(Should not have reached their 18th birthday on the last day of the Championship)
‘Palmer’
13 – 14 years
(Should not have reached their 15th birthday on the last day of the Championship)
‘Snead’
under 11 years
(Should not have reached their 12th birthday on the last day of the Championship)
If
there are less than 5 entries in a category, players in that category
will play with players in higher category.
4.
DRESS CODE
All contestants shall strictly follow the following dress code:
Items
Headgear Cap/Hat/Visor
Dress Sports Shirts Collar & Sleeves (must be tucked in), Trouser/Pants
(shorts)
Shoe Proper golf shoes/sneakers with rubber studs only.
1.
Jogging/boxing/football type boot/cargo shorts, Denim Jeans/shorts/track
are not allowed.
2. Players must be properly attired while playing on golf course/practicing
on the driving range, putting green. The participants will also ensure
dress regulation of host club.
5.
DURATION OF PLAY
36 holes of stroke play for all categories.
6.
SIZE OF FIELD
The field shall be limited to 120 players, in the event, the entries exceed
this number of the Championship Committee may hold a pre qualifying round
on the practice day.
Cut
will be applied as per the strength of the category.
The
Championship Committee may cancel any round or rounds in the event of
Conditions or circumstances, which make the playing impractical.
7.
TEE OFF
a) Category “Hogan” and “Palmer” will use the
Championship Tees.
b) Category “Snead” will use the Men’s Tee.
8. ENTRIES and ENTRY FEE
The entry fee is Rs. 200/- Entries will not be accepted unless accompanied
by Birth Certificates issued by the Municipal authorities or by recognized
Schools or identity card issued by IGU/SPTSports. Entries will close two
days prior to the tournament.
9.
REGISTRATION
The Players must register himself at the venue the day before the tournaments
by 12.00 noon, or else his entry shall be treated as withdrawn. The original
Birth Certificate or ID Card issued by IGU/SPT Sports, should be produced
at the time of Registration, if necessary.
10.
GOLF BALLS
Only golf balls listed in the latest R & A list of conforming golf
balls must be used and be marked for identification. List is accessible
on the R & A’s website (www.randa.org).
11.
CADDIES
Participants in Category “Hogan” and “Palmer”
are not allowed to engage Caddies during the tournament days. However
use of caddies is permitted for Category “Snead” participants.
Power carts are not allowed; hand pulled trolleys may be used.
12.
GALLERY
Players shall not indulge in conversation with the Gallery. Parents/ Relatives/
Coach of the participants are not allowed on the course during the days
of competition. Breach of this rule may lead to disqualification of the
competitor.
13.
SCORES
The correct recording of scores though will be the responsibility of the
players as per the Rules of Golf Rule 6-6. Breach of rules will result
in disqualification of the player.
14.
NO SMOKING/DRINKING
Smoking/Drinking of hard liquor is prohibited at all times.

DISQUALIFICATION
15.
UNBECOMING CONDUCT
The Tournament committee may warn and / or impose a penalty of disqualification
for improper conduct such as swearing and throwing of golf clubs or any
other act which may tantamount to an act contrary to the laid down rules
and regulations of golf, breach of local rules, physical confrontation
between players or members of gallery etc
The
tournament committee will inform of any incidence however trivial to tournament
committee for information and recording in the individual dossier of the
player.
A
detailed report will then be forwarded by either tournament director or
Chairman Championship Committee to SPT Sports for any further action as
deemed fit.
SPT
Sports will initiate the disciplinary action as per the following guidelines:
1st
Offence … Disqualification as per rule 15 above and a warning.
2nd
Offence … Ban up to six months and disqualification up to two events.
3rd
Offence … Ban up to one year for all SPT Sports events.
16.
PRACTICE PRIVILEGES
Players are entitled to (at least) one free Practice round.
17.
TIME OF STARTING
If a player arrives at his starting tee, ready to play, within five minutes
after his starting time, in the absence of circumstances which warrant
waiving the penalty of disqualification as provided in Rule 337 the penalty
for failure to start on time is two strokes at the first hole. If a player
still fails to appear at the starting tee within this period, he shall
be disqualified.
18.
RECORDING OF SCORES
Each player will be assigned as “marker” to record the score
of another player in the same group. The marker shall be responsible for
recording the player’s correct score after each hole.
After
completion of round, the player shall:
a) Check his hole by hole score for accuracy.
b) Settle any doubtful points with the Committee
c) Ensure that his marker has signed his Card.
d) Counter-sign the card himself, and
e) Return the card to the Committee as soon as possible
f) Any over writing etc. should be signed by the marker and the competitor
19.
AWARDS, PRIZES AND POINTS
Each category will carry 1st and 2nd Prize. However top seven positions
will be awarded points as follows:

7th ………… 02 points
These
points will be accumulated by each players and at the end of the year,
the player with maximum points will be awarded golf equipment and/or accessories
and/or scholarship. Eligibility of scholarship will be decided by SPT
Sports.
20.
DRAW
The draw will be made at the discretion of the Organisers. The handicap
restrictions in each category are strictly to be followed.
21.
PLAY OFF (TIES)
Ties for the first place will be settled by sudden death play off. Ties
for second and third place will be decided on the basis of the lowest
score over the last 18,9,6,3,2 holes respectively for awards & trophy
& though not for points.
22.
TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE
One representative from SPT Sports and two representatives from the host
club will form the Tournament Committee. The decision of the Tournament
Committee is final and binding on all.
23.
RULES OF GOLF
The Rules Golf of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews and the
local rules of the host golf club will govern play. The Tournament Committee
whose decisions shall be final shall settle questions if any. However
each event will have a Rule Committee on which SPT Sports will nominate
a Chairman and 2 Rule Officials.
24.
ACCOMMODATION
Players will have to arrange for their own accommodation. However players
requiring accommodation may write to SPT Sports or the host club for tariff
and other details.
25.
Mobile phones are not allowed; their usage may result in disqualification.
26.
TRANSPORTATION
Participants will walk at all times while on course during the event.
27.
PACE OF PLAY
In the absence of mitigating circumstances, a group is liable to be timed
if it is in excess of the time allowed and in case of second or subsequent
groups, out of position. From the commencement of timing, if any player
exceeds 50 seconds on a “first to play shot” or 40 seconds
if it is a “second or third to play shot” he shall be deemed
to have had a ‘bad time’.
Out
of time is defined as being more than the starting interval behind the
group in front.
Penalty
for breach of condition:
One bad time Verbal warning from official
Two bad times One stroke penalty
Three bad times Two strokes penalty
Four bad times Disqualification
Note
1. Player will NOT be advised that they are being timed.
Note 2. Timing will be taken from the moment it is deemed
by the Official that is the Players’ turn to play.
28.
PRIZE DISTRIBUTIION
The prize distribution of all events shall be conducted with in one hour
of submission of the last scorecard. |
