Level 'E' Award in coaching football (U-8 - U-12)

The Level 'E' Award in coaching football is designed for the youth coach working with players in age groups U-8 through U-12.

The overall objective of the course is to help coaches create the optimal learning environment for players at this developmental stage. Emphasis is placed on the basic methods of coaching youth and understanding the physiological and psychological differences between coaching young children and coaching adolescents or adults. The course teaches coaches how to utilize the game of Football itself as the teacher and encourages the coach to fulfill the role of facilitator of players' growth and development. The curriculum also focuses on the organization of a practice session, teaching proper technique through activities and games appropriate for U-8 and U-12 players, helping players develop ball mastery, dribbling and striking the ball skills, and using small-sided games as teaching exercises and vehicles for player development.

The Level 'E' Award in coaching football is a 21-hour course held over three days, featuring both classroom presentations (theory) and on-field instruction (practical).

There is no testing involved in this course, although all coaches are afforded an opportunity to be assessed on a practical demonstration and receive feedback from a staff coach.
Each person completing the course is awarded the Level 'E' Certificate.

All candidates must be at least 14 years of age at the time of application.
No prerequisite for this course is required, though candidates will find previous coursework, such as AFC Courses to be helpful in processing the contents of this course.

Level 'D' Award in coaching football (U-12 - U-18)

  • The “D” License is a 48-hour course held over 8 days.
  • Designed for the more experienced coach who has already received training at the "E" level or who has several years of coaching and/or playing experience.
  • The focus of this course is to improve the individual’s and team’s ability.
  • The course features classroom presentations (Theory) and on field instruction (Practical)
  • Each coach will be afforded the oppurtunity of two practice practical sessions before their final Practical assessment.
  • Their is also a theory paper that has to be successfully completed
  • Upon successful completion of all aspects of the course those attaining the level of competency will be awarded the Level 'D' Award in coaching footballAll candidates must be at least 14 years of age at the time of application.

Waiting Period: Upon successful completion of the “D” License course; there is a mandatory waiting period of one (1) year before a coach is eligible to enroll on the “C” License course.

Level 'C' Award in coaching football (U18+)

  • The "C" License is a 90-hour course held over 15 days.
  • Designed for the coach who already holds the Level 'D' Award in coaching football.
  • The main emphasis at this level is to look at improving the team’s ability through more enhanced tactical awareness,although attention will still be paid to the individuals needs in the team
  • The course features classroom presentations (Theory) and on field instruction (Practical)
  • Each coach will be afforded the oppurtunity of two practice practical sessions before their final Practical assessment
  • Their is also a theory paper that has to be successfully completed
  • Upon successful completion of all aspects of the course those attaining the level of competency will be awarded the Level 'D' Award in coaching footballAll candidates must be at least 14 years of age at the time of application.
  • All candidates must be at least 14 years of age at the time of application.

Please note that you may have to travel outside of your city/state to attend a 'C' Licence.
